We will talk about how the events that were in Europe involving Napoleon and the French revolution drove the processes of independence in America.
- The death of the Spanish Habsburg King Charles II on 1 November 1700.
- Charles II named Philip of Ajou his successor but Austia claimed for the Spanish throne too by proposing Archuke Charles.
- Treaty of Utrecht (it consisted on a series of individual peace treaties signed in the Dutch city of Utrecht in March and April 1713. Concluded between various European states, it helped end the War of the Spanish Succession)
- Phillip V was recognized the Spanish king. So the Bourbons became the ruling house of Spain since.
- Another caused consisted on the Bourbonic reforms in which Charles III tried to regain political, economical and social control. But this reforms tried to decrease the power and participation of the Creoles in politics and economy.
- The enlightment was a very important movement in Europe that also affected in the independence of America with it's ideas like the use of reason and it also teached people to fight or stop the ancient regime (Absolutism and the power of the Church)
- The French Revolution was another important process that affected the independence of America with it's ideals. Some of them were the ideas of Republic, the ideas of constitution, the declaration of human rights, nationalism, freedom, liberty and equality.
- The invasion of Napoleon caused in the Spanish Colonies in America the appearance of the “Juntas” led them by the creoles, the most important Juntas were: Montevideo 1808, Chuquisaca and Quito 1809, Buenos Aires, Santiago, Bogota, and Mexico 1810
